Web design for trades in Bedford
I build websites for plumbers, electricians and other trades working in Bedford, built to be found when someone there searches for the job. Bedford has two very different kinds of work right now: homes recovering from the July 2023 flood and living with new floodplain rules, and thousands of new homes going up in Bedford West. A Bedford trades site should answer both.
What's different about working in Bedford?
In July 2023 Bedford set a national rainfall-intensity record: 100 mm in one hour and 173 mm in six hours, according to Environment Canada. The Sackville River flooded homes on Union Street, and the Bedford Highway and other low spots flood in heavy rain.
On April 29, 2025, council approved expanded floodplain rules for the Sackville and Little Sackville rivers. The city says almost 900 properties are now near the 1-in-20-year floodplain, up from about 500 in 1983 (checked October 7, 2026).
At the same time, Bedford West is growing. Its plan dates from 2006, and Sub-Areas 1 and 12, with 1,800 to 2,000 homes, were approved by the provincial housing minister in November 2023.
What should a Bedford trades website say?
If you do flood work, sump pumps, backwater valves or basement electrical, give each its own page and say plainly that you work in Bedford.
If you work on new builds, say so separately. A builder or a new owner in Bedford West isn't searching for flood repairs.
And keep any rules you mention dated. Floodplain rules changed in 2025, and a homeowner trusts a page that says when it was checked.
How do Bedford electricians' websites stack up?
- 15 electricians listed in Bedford; 3 with no website.
- 5 of 10 sites with no page for any town they work in.
- 8 of 12 with no call button in the header on a phone.
Electricians with this town on their Google listing, researched by Just Work Automated in September 2026. Counts only, no business named; each share counts only the sites where the check could be read in full.

Questions from Bedford trades
- Do you build websites for trades in Bedford?
- Yes. I'm based in Cole Harbour and work with trades across Bedford and the rest of Halifax. The work is remote.
- Should my site talk about the floodplain rules?
- Only what you know and can date. Link to the city's floodplain page rather than restating the rules, and say what you do about water in basements.
